Office Protect installed an application on your tenant to maintain its operations. As we are expanding the scope of this application with the removal of the Office Protect monitoring user, we implemented monitoring of this application to ensure that Office Protect is fully functional for your tenant.

How to restore the application to its healthy state


In some cases, it is possible that the Office Protect application is not operational. The application may miss permission to use a new feature or have been accidentally deleted. In those cases, Office Protect will raise and "Health Status Decline" alert stating that the application is not operational. 


We highly recommend that you take the necessary steps to resolve the situation, as Office Protect won't be able to apply settings or in some cases monitor your organization. We deployed a streamlined experience to allow you to recreate the Office Protect application directly in our portal. 


Note that you need Admin Credentials for the tenant to execute the following steps.


  • Go to the Health Status page and find the Office Protect Application is Active status
  • Click on Remediate

  • You will be prompted to add the application, click on Add Application and authenticate with an Admin on your tenant


  • After you have completed the process, you will be returned to the Health Status page
  • Office Protect Application will be flagged as Recovering, the process may take a few minutes. Once it is complete, the Health Status will return to Healthy.
