When Office Protect misses some permissions to access Exchange audit logs, the Office Protect setup can result in an error.


How to remediate the situation:


  1. Access Exchange admin portal
  2. Click on Roles > Admin roles > Organization Management > Permissions
  3. Make sure the following roles are selected:
    • Audit Logs
    • View-Only Configuration
    • View-Only Audit Logs 
    • View-Only Recipients
    • Security Admin
    • Compliance Admin
    • Distribution Groups
    • Organization Transport Settings
  4. Click Save


When permissions have been changed, go back to Office Protect and click on "Resume".
